Gunjan Tilak Raj Soni, an independent director at Zomato, has resigned from her position effective immediately. In a stock exchange filing, Zomato announced that Soni is leaving the online food delivery company due to “increased work commitments.” She joined the board prior to Zomato's initial public offering (IPO) in July 2021.
Soni holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering from Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, and a postgraduate diploma in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur. Currently, she serves as the Chief Executive of Zalora Group, a fashion retailer focused on Southeast Asia, and has previously held senior roles at Myntra, Jabong, Star India, and McKinsey.
In her resignation email, she stated:
"This is to inform the Board that due to my increased work commitments, I hereby tender my resignation as an independent director of the Company with effect from the close of business hours on October 11, 2024. Consequently, I will also be stepping down as a member of the Risk Management Committee and Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Company. I have had a great partnership with the Zomato team and the other Board members over the past three years. The decision to step down was tough, but I am grateful for the opportunity to have served on the Board and confident in Zomato’s management and future direction. It has been an absolute pleasure to serve under Kaushik's chairmanship alongside such talented Board members. I wish Deepinder and the team continued success."
She confirmed that she is not a director in any other listed entity in India and that there are no material reasons for her resignation other than those stated.
